Why am I torturing myself when the world is celebrating a new year? This was a question I asked myself on the New Year’s Eve of 2019. Little did I know that I was also celebrating a fresh beginning, without being aware of it. The tortures that I was going through, would set me free for the pleasures of similar dimensions. I was in the middle of a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation course in Dublin at the beginning of 2020.

We’d make a difficult journey for a few days to reach her home amidst all the uncertainties. I would find myself in a small village in the Sacred Valley – Kachi Ccata, where I had my first Pachamanca. Life in Kachi Ccata didn’t need reasons to celebrate, but a few family members returning home after a long time called for a Pachamanca, and I was fortunate enough to be present.

End of February, I set off for a three-week trip to Peru in my quest of the Machu Picchu, the Incas, and mainly, The Amazon. Little did I know that life would present me with an opportunity that I would be so grateful for. As there was worrying uncertainty about the global COVID-19 implications, I saw a lot of fellow travelers cut short their trips to get back home. However, I happened to have met a girl, and booked another flight.
